SAN ANTONIO – TNT announcer Jeff Van Gundy railed long and hard against the NBA continuing to allow intentional fouling during the broadcast of the Spurs 115-107 win over the Los Angeles Clippers Friday night, but Clippers coach Doc Rivers labeled the strategy of hacking DeAndre Jordan a “smart move.”
Jordan misfired on 12 of 20 free throw attempts and the slowing down of the game drew Van Gundy’s ire, but it also was a factor in the Spurs winning the first meeting between the teams since last season’s epic first-round playoff series won by the Clippers in seven games.
