Spurs Sports & Entertainment have announced combo guard Quinndary Weatherspoon underwent a left knee cartilage debridement earlier today. The Spurs’ team physician Dr. David Schmidt performed the procedure in San Antonio, and there is no timeline for his recovery.
A non-contact injury to his left knee during the first quarter of the Spurs’ final seeding game of the NBA restart against the Utah Jazz forced him out of the contest, though it is unknown whether this is what caused the need for surgery.
San Antonio selected Weatherspoon with the 49th pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, and after signing a one-year two-way contract, spent most of his rookie season in the G-League with the Austin Spurs before appearing for the big league club in all eight of their Orlando bubble outings.
