Popovich jokes about why Boris Diaw needed more time before making his preseason debut

After scheduling their first three preseason games on the road while construction workers continue to put the finishing touches to the renovation at AT&T Center, the Spurs finally made their home debut on Sunday against the Detroit Pistons.

It was the first time fans in San Antonio saw LaMarcus Aldridge playing for the home team in person, and it was also the preseason debut of Boris Diaw, who finished with six points in 10 minutes off the bench.

According to coach Gregg Popovich the day before the game, Diaw's delay in returning to action for San Antonio can be chalked up to "a busy summer schedule and because he is French.
