Pop on Boban: “He did a good job”

DENVER – Boban Marjanovic didn’t set the NBA on fire in logging his first start Friday night, but the 7-foot-3 rookie from Serbia didn’t embarrass himself either.

With Tim Duncan back in San Antonio resting, Popovich inserted Marjanovic into the starting lineup even though he had just five meaningful minutes before tonight. Logging just six minutes in the first period before sitting the rest of the game, the Spurs fan favorite scored two points on a pair of free throws and ripped down four rebounds, including two on the offensive end. He also had an assist and two fouls.
