SAN ANTONIO – Spurs coach Gregg Popovich gave a resounding thumbs up to KISS front man Paul Stanley’s performance of the national anthem before Friday’s game with the Lakers and his stirring words before his performance.
Stanley asked fans to sing along with him in tribute to the men and women “senselessly killed by terrorists” last week in San Bernardino, Calif.
“I thought he was great,” Popovich said of Stanley after the game, “and it was heartfelt the things he said out there. Very appropriate and heartfelt.”
Stanley was in town for the opening of Rock & Brews, an AT&T Center restaurant concept he formulated with KISS bandmate Gene Simmons.
