Playing for Pop and the fingeroll: A Q&A with George Gervin

Tonight at the AT&T Center, the Spurs are honoring George “Iceman” Gervin in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of his induction to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

Gervin, 63, still works as an ambassador the the Spurs, the fledgling team he joined in 1973 and spent parts of 12 seasons.

Before the start of the festivities, Gervin paused for a brief Q&A with reporters, in which he talked the position switch that kick-started his career, what it might be like to play for Gregg Popovich, and — of course — his patented finger roll:
