SAN ANTONIO – Injured Spurs point guard Tony Parker is hopeful he will be out of action for just the first two months of next season.
“I will play my best basketball when I return in January,” Parker recently told the French newspaper L’Equipe.
Parker’s postseason ended when he ruptured his left quadriceps tendon in the fourth quarter of Game 2 against Houston in the Western Conference semifinals. Parker underwent successful surgery shortly thereafter but faces a lengthy, intense rehab.
According to a translation by Eurohoops.net, the story by L’Equipe detailed Parker’s frustration at being sidelined during a playoff run he was optimistic would end with the Spurs winning their sixth NBA title.
