LOS ANGELES — With five minutes to go before the clock sounded on the NBA trade deadline Thursday, Tony Parker was fairly optimistic he would still be a Spur come tipoff time against the Los Angeles Clippers later that night.
“You can never get too confident though,” the Spurs point guard said with a chuckle. “It’s a crazy business.”
Parker and his teammates can rest easy. Thursday’s deadline passed without the Spurs making a move. The decision to stand pat felt like a no-brainer to players who had produced a franchise-record 45-8 mark heading into the All-Star break.
