The recent inclusion of former stars of the American Basketball Association by an easier path into the Basketball Hall of Fame is over.
The Hall has announced it is dropping the ABA committee after five years as a direct-elect category for players from that league.
It has been rumored for several months after internal debate whether the old league had run out of deserving players and coaches who deserved the easier path of induction after being overlooked in the past.
Among the players and coaches who have been inducted in recent years include former Spur Louie Dampier, former Indiana Pacers players Mel Daniels and Roger Brown, former Indiana coach Bobby Leonard and Artis Gilmore, who played for the Spurs after both he and the team joined the NBA.
