Joseph returns home to join Raptors

With his qualifying offer having been rescinded by the Spurs, reserve guard Cory Joseph is nearing a contract agreement with his hometown Toronto Raptors, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.

The Express-News reported on Sunday that the Spurs, needing to preserve salary cap for the acquisition of All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge, had pulled their qualifying offer to Joseph, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Stein followed that up in the evening with a report that Joseph is nearing an agreement with Toronto, where he was born and raised.

If those talks come to fruition, Joseph will be the fourth Spurs player to leave the team, joining starting forward/center Tiago Splitter (traded to Atlanta), reserve guard Marco Belinelli (Sacramento) and reserve center Aron Baynes (Detroit).
