SAN ANTONIO – Memphis coach Dave Joerger stressed Sunday his team isn’t about to go through the motions in its first-round playoff series against the heavily favored Spurs.
“We will go out there and fight, scratch and claw,” Joerger said at the Grizzlies shootaround at the AT&T Center, where Game 1 will be played at 7 p.m.
Seventh-seeded, injury-riddled Memphis lost 10 of its last 11 games, including two to the Spurs. With the Spurs having forged an NBA record-tying 40-1 record at home this season, it seems a safe bet the Grizzlies will return to Memphis after Game 2 on Tuesday down 0-2.
