October 2nd was #WrongfulConvictionDay
Sister Helen Prejean, whose book Dead Man Walking was made into a major motion picture, has been bringing awareness to the injustices of wrongful convictions for years.
Today is #WrongfulConvictionDay. Did you know that 2,674 innocent people have been exonerated after spending a combined total of 23,950 years incarcerated for crimes they did not commit? 172 of those people were on death row awaiting execution even though they were innocent.

Amanda Knox, who spent nearly four years in an Italian prison before being exonerated, also pointed out the problem of racial bias in the United States prisons.
