The San Antonio Spurs are a mere three days away from making their fifth lottery selection since joining the NBA in 1976. Although the odds of them finding an organizational cornerstone with the 12th overall pick are slim to none, there will undoubtedly be plenty of avenues towards improving this roster immediately, long-term, or perhaps both.
An upside swing on a high-risk, high-reward prospect like Kai Jones, JT Thor, or Isaiah Jackson could be enticing for a franchise devoid of the sort of top-end talent necessary to compete for titles. With that said, there are safer routes towards adding a player who could feasibly contribute to team success from day one.
