The signing of David West went quiet during the offseason. After landing LaMarcus Aldridge to a huge four-year deal, the Spurs signed West to a veteran’s minimum contract. The Spurs got quite the bargain as the 34-year old big would’ve gotten a lot more money on another team.
West averaged 11.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists last season. It was West’s lowest scoring average since 2005. Despite being out of his prime, the two-time All-Star will be a terrific backup for Aldridge and Tim Duncan. However, West will have to adjust to a bench role for the first time since 2005.
