Two years ago, the Catholic Charities building at W. Cesar Chavez Boulevard was in danger of being shut down.
The paint was peeling, the playground was rusted and the basketball court was a concrete hazard.
Located on the West Side of San Antonio in one of the city’s poorest zip codes, the building was failing to serve a community that needed it the most.
Today, the Guadalupe Community Center is a vibrant place that greets 129,000 people through its doors in a year.
Thanks to grants, volunteers and lot of elbow grease and love, there’s a fresh coat of paint throughout the building.
