SAN ANTONIO – Monday night’s long-awaited showdown between the Spurs and the Warriors lost some of its luster when the Spurs announced Sunday that Tim Duncan will miss the game with a sore right knee.
That means the Spurs will be without their captain and leading shot blocker when they face reigning league MVP Stephen Curry and the Warriors’ No. 1-ranked offense in a battle between the NBA’s top two teams in Oakland, Calif. It’s the first of four meetings between the teams this season.
Duncan is averaging 8.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 blocks while shooting 50.
