Danny Green said Tuesday that he deeply appreciates having such a socially conscious coach.
Green made that comment a day after Gregg Popovich delivered an impassioned speech at Spurs’ media day, saying that the United States “is an embarrassment in the world” because of President Donald Trump’s behavior and how he’s emboldened people who have racist views. He called out white privilege, denounced NASCAR’s handling of peaceful national anthem protests, and encouraged citizens to not be discouraged by the president and to organize and come together on a grassroots level.
“That’s one of the great things about him,” Green said.
