Bonner return as wildly successful offseason nears close

LAS VEGAS — The Matt Bonner Era continues in San Antonio.

Bonner confirmed his return in a text to the Express-News.

The 35-year-old sharpshooting forward agreed to a one-year deal at the veteran minimum to return to the team that has employed him since 2006-07.

A career 41.4-percent shooter from 3-point range, Bonner’s accuracy rate slipped to 36.5 percent last season, his lowest since 2007-08. He recently attributed to dip to a case of tennis elbow he blamed on his Iphone.

Bonner will be entering his 10th season with the Spurs, making him the team’s longest-tenured player outside of the core trio of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili.
