WELLINGTON, New Zealand — Patty Mills and his Australia teammates have qualified for next year’s Olympic basketball tournament.
Mills scored nine points and Golden State center Andrew Bogut added 10 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and had two blocks as Australia beat New Zealand 89-79 Tuesday in an Oceania qualifying game to earn its place in Rio de Janeiro.
Bogut was in doubt because of a back injury, but his play helped the Aussies win the two-game aggregate series by 22 points following a 71-59 victory in the first leg.
Cleveland point guard Matthew Dellavedova added 14 points, Chicago forward Cameron Bairstow had 10.
