The Spurs have officially landed their grand prize, announcing the signing of four-time All-Star LaMarcus Aldridge on Thursday. Terms were not disclosed, but Aldridge is expected to have signed a four-year max contract starting at roughly $20 million per season. He will be introduced in a press conference at the Spurs practice site at noon Friday.
Aldridge, 29, is the highest-profile free agent the Spurs have ever signed by a huge margin after averaging 23.4 points and 10.2 rebounds last season for Portland. He joined New Orleans’ Anthony Davis and Sacramento’s DeMarcus Cousins as the only players to rank in the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding last year, and the only one to average at least 23 and 10 over the past two.
