MIAMI – In this week’s issue of Spurs Nation Magazine, Express-News columnist Buck Harvey quotes Heat president Pat Riley as saying LaMarcus Aldridge, not Kawhi Leonard, is the Spurs’ best player now.
That was certainly true last week.
Over four games, all wins, the All-Star big man averaged 26.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in 31.8 minutes while shooting 59.7 (37-62) from the field and 90.9 (30-33) from the free-throw line.
For that outstanding stretch, Aldridge was named the Western Conference Player of the Week.
Aldridge scored at least 26 points in three of the four games, including a season-high 36 points performance along with six boards and three blocks in a 110-97 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Feb.
