A Pop Q&A: On the meteoric rise of Kawhi Leonard

WASHINGTON — Small forward Kawhi Leonard has been the Spurs’ best player on both ends of the floor through the first four games, a fact that no doubt tickles coach Gregg Popovich.

At shootaround Wednesday morning, in advance of tonight’s game against the Wizards, Popovich talked about Leonard’s growth, how far he still has to go and what he might learn from Charles Barkley.

Q. Leonard has already been a monster at both ends so far this season. What is the next step in his evolution?

Popovich: “At this point, he’s just trying to figure out what to do when people come after him.
