LOS ANGELES — Junior Parminder Kaur earned her second singles win of the season Friday as the No. 47 Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team fell to No. 21 UCLA, 6-1, at the Riviera Country Club.
Kaur nearly earned a perfect sweep for the Gaels (1-2) in defeating UCLA’s Laura Luca, winning by set scores of 6-1 and 6-0. For as quickly as her victory came, it evened the match at 1-1 after the Bruins (1-1) won the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2.
No. 103-ranked senior Jamie Pawid won the first set of her singles match versus Alaina Miller, 6-2, but she would fall 6-2 and 6-1 in the second and third sets, respectively, to fall 2-1.
