FRESNO, Calif. — Junior Jana McCord evened her singles record in duals this spring with a victory at No. 2 Sunday, but the Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team fell to another nationally ranked opponent on the road, this time in a 6-1 decision against No. 26 Fresno State at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center.
McCord moved to 4-4 in duals and 5-5 overall in 2016 with a 6-3, 6-2, win over Rana Sherif Ahmed. It was McCord’s first match at No. 2 singles this spring. Saint Mary’s (2-7) was competitive in every singles match Sunday, losing just one set in six matches by more than three games.
