SURPRISE, Ariz. — In a tournament featuring the best collegiate players from around the nation, Mariia Kozyreva advanced to the second round of the ITA National Fall Championships consolation round and totaled three matches during the competition.
After dropping her first match to top-ranked No. 26 Lauren Proctor from Winthrop, Kozyreva moved on to the consolation singles round.
In the consolation round of 32, the Gaels' sophomore matched up against Natalia Perry from William and Mary and played well to easily advance 6-1, 6-2. The following day, Kozyreva played Paola Delgado from VCU and went down to the wire in a close match but eventually Delgado proved victorious at 7-6(3), 6-4.
