MORAGA, Calif. — Early goals in each half by Pepperdine (9-3-3, 4-0-1 WCC) proved to be too much for Saint Mary’s (2-11-2, 0-4 WCC) in a 2-0 loss at home on Saturday.
Nationally-ranked No. 19 Pepperdine started off strong in the opening half, recording the first three shots of the game and notched a goal in the 11th minute as Hailey Stenberg connected on a cross from teammate Rylee Baisden.
The Gaels offense took some time to warm up on a chilly afternoon in Moraga as they attempted their first shot in the 23rd minute but had ample scoring chances towards the end of the half.
