MORAGA, Calif. – While the Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team clinched the No. 2 seed with an impressive road win at Santa Clara, there is still lots to play for on Saturday against San Francisco.
With a win over the Dons, Saint Mary’s can own second-place outright. The Gaels will be aiming to avenge a last weekend defeat to San Francisco last season, a loss that ended SMC’s NCAA Tournament at-large possibilities. USF turned that win into a hot streak, reaching the WCC Tournament championship game as the No. 6 seed before falling to BYU in the championship.
