SPOKANE, Wash. – The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team ended the game scoring the last eight points and defeated Gonzaga 69-68 in Spokane on Thursday night.
Lauren Nicholson completed the comeback with a jumper on SMC’s final possession, scoring her game-high 25th point of the night. SMC ended up shutting out Gonzaga over the last 3:43 of the game after GU built a seven-point fourth quarter lead.
With the win, Saint Mary’s improves to 15-4, 6-2 West Coast Conference. If the Gaels can wrap-up the weekend successfully in Portland on Saturday, the Gaels will be in a good spot playing six of their final nine WCC games in Moraga.
