MORAGA, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team rallied but could not complete the comeback falling to BYU 65-44 on Saturday afternoon in McKeon Pavilion.
Despite the loss, Saint Mary’s is still in good position to challenge for a top seed with a split over the weekend against BYU and San Diego. The Gaels are now 18-5, 9-3 West Coast Conference, while BYU is 20-4, 12-1 WCC.
BYU got off to a strong start at 21-5 after the first-quarter. The Cougars were hot from behind the arc hitting 14-of-25 three-pointers. The Gaels trailed 40-19 at the break.
