MORAGA, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team (9-2) opens West Coast Conference this week when it takes on San Francisco (9-2) on Monday night in War Memorial Gym. The Gaels will host Santa Clara (9-2) on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in McKeon Pavilion.
In the last 32 meetings combined, the Gaels have an overall record of 28-4 against USF and SCU, dating back to 2007. If the Gaels are going to continue their trend against their Bay Area rivals, this week promises to showcase a pair of exciting competitive match-ups.
While the Gaels have won 13 of the last 15 against the Dons, it was USF winning at SMC last season, as the Dons were playing their best ball of the season late, using that victory for momentum and reach the WCC Tournament championship game.
