MORAGA, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team (24-7) makes its seventh consecutive postseason appearance hosting Eastern Michigan (21-11) on Thursday at 7 PM in McKeon Pavilion.
Saint Mary’s enters the postseason with a strong RPI of 53, including eight top-100 wins this season. The Gaels went a combined 9-5 against teams in the WNIT/NCAA Tournament this season. The Gaels went 7-1 against teams in the WNIT with wins over Gonzaga (twice), San Diego (twice), Villanova, Fresno State and Santa Clara. SMC went 2-4 against teams in the NCAA Tournament (San Francisco, BYU, Missouri).
The Gaels have had recent success in the WNIT, reaching the round of eight in two of the last three seasons.
