SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Maia Jones has been named the WCC Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week for February 19 after erupting for a career-high 31 points in the Gaels win over Pepperdine.
Jones shot 10 of 19 from the field and 6 of 9 from 3-point range in SMC's 75-47 win over the Waves. She was also a perfect 5 for 5 from the free-throw line with a steal defensively.
The New Zealand native hit two threes to get the Gaels out to a 10-0 and kept pouring it on from there, with 22 points in the first half alone after a 14-point second quarter.
