PHOENIX – Saint Mary's Women's Basketball led most of the way at Grand Canyon in the season opener, before a rough fourth quarter led to a 55-52 loss on Monday evening.
The Gaels led the Lopes for over 34 minutes and had the lead with just 37 seconds remaining, before GCU tied it and then won it on a three pointer at the buzzer.
SMC led by 19 points early in the fourth quarter after a three pointer in the corner, and were leading by seven at the half. They shot a whopping 75% from the field including 4 of 7 on threes in the third.
