MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's Volleyball earned the first academic awards of the season, landing three on the Academic All-District list, announced earlier on Tuesday morning.
Chosen by College Sports Communicators, formerly CoSida, the award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To qualify for the award, student-athletes must maintain a 3.5 GPA, play in 50% of the games, and be athletically and academically a sophomore or older with at least one full year at their current institution.
First awarded in 1952, this precedes voting for Academic All-Americans, the award given to the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
