SAN MATEO, Calif. — Saint Mary's Volleyball is one of the hottest teams in the WCC, having won five of their last six matches. That has earned them some recognition from the WCC for the first time in a long time. Just announced by the conference office, Jennifer "Boo" Laird has been named the UCU WCC Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on March 14.
The Gaels were strong on the block all week long, and Laird was right in the middle of it for Saint Mary's. The senior middle blocker recorded a total of 18 blocks on the week, with one solo and 17 assisted, as the Gaels won two out of three over the week.
