LEXINGTON, Ky. — For the fourth consecutive season, and ninth time in the last 12 seasons, Saint Mary's Volleyball has been honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award. In order to earn this award, teams must maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale), to earn the award for their classroom excellence during the recently completed academic year.
As a team, the Gaels maintained a 3.61 team GPA, with nine of their student-athletes maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA for the 2023-24 academic year. This should come as no surprise, as the Gaels had five student-athletes honored by the WCC, and four honored by the CSC (College Sports Communicators) for their academic excellence.
