SEATTLE — In one of the Saint Mary’s track team’s first competitions of 2016, and the only indoor meet of the year for the Gaels, two runners competed at the University of Washington Invitational Saturday, with Zach Hansen highlighting the day by winning his heat of the mile at the Dempsey Indoor facility.
Hansen raced in the second-fastest heat of the day for the mile. The senior showed poise early in the race by staying in the middle of the pack in the second lane. At the 1,000-meter mark, Hansen made a move to take the lead but was clipped by another racer.
