SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - Taylor Poland earned the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performance against Gonzaga this past Saturday.
Poland posted a 1-0 shutout over Gonzaga, who were receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top-25 poll and led the country in goals per game coming into the match. She kept the Zags off the board making three saves for the Gaels in the fourth, ninth, and 11th minute allowing the momentum to swing to Saint Mary's to score the only goal of the game.
In the second half, the Bulldogs became more of an offensive team where they had five attempts in between the 61st and 67th minute and Poland had three of those saves.
