MORAGA, Calif. — Richard Mannini, former Saint Mary's College head football coach and Gaels hall of famer, passed away earlier this week, the college has learned.
Mannini was the ninth head coach of Saint Mary's football and served in that role from 1977-184. Mannini enjoyed wild success across his eight season at the helm of the program, leading the Gaels to 45 wins, the third-most in program history. His best year came in 1982, when he led the Gaels to an undefeated, untied season.
"The passing of Richard Mannini is a great loss to our Saint Mary's community," Vice President for Athletics, Mike Matoso said.
