MORAGA, Calif. - Redshirt sophomore Avery Wolverton picked up her second career WCC Pitcher of the Week award and did so in style as she helped the Gaels to their first ever conference title in an 8-0 win over LMU. Wolverton made three appearances on the weekend, totalling 12.1 innings pitched, allowing nine hits and just one run. She would come in relief in both games on Friday which featured nearly six innings of one run ball in game one of the doubleheader.
After a series opening victory on Thursday, the Lions would fight back for the doubleheader sweep on Friday and set up a winner-take-all scenario on Saturday for the conference title and an automatic berth to the NCAA regional.
