MORAGA, Calif. — On the back of solid pitching, Saint Mary's (9-27, 2-0 WCC) swept the visiting Broncos (8-28, 0-2 WCC) in Saturday's doubleheader to kick off conference play on a high note.
Game 1 Eryn McCoy got the start in the circle for the Gaels and went the distance with a complete game win to move to 4-5. The junior needed only 83 pitches to shut down the Broncos' offense as she scattered four hits and allowed just two earned runs. Santa Clara especially had trouble early on as McCoy retired eight of the first nine batters she faced.
