MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's did well to subdue a potent BYU (26-22, 10-2 WCC) lineup with terrific pitching as both teams split Saturday's doubleheader at Cottrell Field.
Game 1 The Gaels (12-36, 5-7 WCC) never quit in the first game of the afternoon as they crossed both of their runs in the final frame to cut the deficit to only one. With two outs in the inning, Nikki Alexander took advantage of a Cougar error and knocked an RBI single up the middle to score Kalissa Heihn and Julia McCormack.
