RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s softball team handed UC Riverside its third home loss in 20 games as the Gaels went 1-0-1 against the Big West leading Highlanders on Tuesday afternoon. The Gaels won game one 4-1 and game two went down as a 5-5 tie after nine innings.
Saint Mary’s continued its improved play both in the circle and on offense. UCR entered the day an impressive 17-2 at home and 20-8 overall. The Gaels had an answer for every UCR rally as SMC came away with a win and a tie on the afternoon.
