SAN DIEGO — The Saint Mary's Gaels (28-20, 8-4 WCC) weathered an early storm in their series finale at San Diego, erasing an early 3-0 deficit to defeat the Toreros (16-36, 4-8 WCC) 8-3. The Gaels also received a huge boost when Pacific took one against Santa Clara, pushing SMC to first place alone in the WCC with one series to go. This means that if the Gaels sweep LMU next weekend, they will win the conference, regardless of any other outcomes around the WCC.
Odhi Vasquez returned to the circle after her complete game shutout Friday evening, but through the first inning, it looked like the Toreros had figured her stuff out.
