MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (3-9) rallied to take a late lead against California (7-4) on Wednesday but two runs in the final inning for the Bears would spoil the Gaels' home opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After Cal scored three runs in the first, the Gaels began chipping away at their lead. Nikki Alexander would score the team's first run in the third as a Bears' outfielder struggled with a sun-ball and dropped a third out off the bat of Jayda Alaan.
Halle Sullivan would add SMC's second run as she came all the way around on an inside the park home run.
