SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s softball team came up short in a 2-0 loss at Santa Clara on Friday afternoon in West Coast Conference action.
Saint Mary’s had several opportunities with runners in scoring position but could not get the key hit. The Broncos broke open a scoreless game in the fifth inning, taking advantage of an SMC error to score two runs which proved to be the difference.
Shannon Low and Andrea Hazel had doubles in the early innings but the Gaels could not muster a run.
Santa Clara had two on with one out in the fourth but Moss got the next SCU batter to ground into a double play to end the inning with the score still 0-0.
