Saint Mary’s to host full slate of rugby National Championships

After winning two straight national championships, the Saint Mary’s rugby team will have the golden opportunity to capture the third straight one on home turf. The College got the news in late January that the USA Rugby 15s National Championship will make its next stop in the secluded but beautiful hills of the East Bay.
Northern California has become a rugby hotbed lately. Sacramento’s Bonney Field, although primarily used for Sacramento Republic FC matches, has hosted various Team USA matches. The Gaels, who have not had a football team since 2003, are one of the minority schools in the country that don’t celebrate a traditional homecoming week complete with the big game.
