MORAGA, Calif. – A clutch pitching performance that set up a comeback win against the BYU Cougars on Friday has earned Ryan Wiltse of Saint Mary's Baseball the Bay Alarm Student Athlete of the Week Award.
Wiltse came on in relief and pitched 5.1 innings of one-run ball while walking only one batter and striking out seven in the Gaels 4-3 comeback victory against BYU. Sam Bower made his first start of the season after a return from an injury and was only slated to pitch the first two innings, so Wiltse getting deep into the game was critical for the Gaels.
