MORAGA, Calif. — In what turned out to be a dominant weekend for the Gaels in their first conference sweep of the year, Saint Mary's took down rival University of San Francisco in a three game set, sparked by a big performance from pitcher Ryan Taurek on Friday, earning himself the Bay Alarm Student-Athlete of the Week Award.
Taurek has had a solid junior campaign for the Gaels rotation this season, ranking third on the team in innings pitched and strikeouts, as well as being tied for the lead in wins with four.
