MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary’s rowing team completed their first race of the season at the Briones Reservoir on Saturday sweeping West Coast Conference rival Santa Clara.
In its first dual of the season, Saint Mary’s raced against Santa Clara and took every heat. The first Varsity Eight boat grabbed the first win of the day in 7 minutes, 52.14 seconds beating Santa Clara by 23 seconds. In the second Varsity Eight race, the Gaels finished in first in 8:08.07. Saint Mary’s grabbed first and second place in the only Varsity Four race of the day in 9:13.
